Oh no, I didn't gain 5 lbs!!!

Has anyone ever dealt with the different scales dilemma? My scale home shows one weight and the scale at the gym shows another weight The problem is this these two skills have a difference of 5 pounds. Yet the one my trainer uses to weigh me is the one at the gym. So which one do I go by? I've always gone by the one at home. But the problem with that is, that I'm not going to use that to determine if I've really reach my goal. It's going to be when my trainer writes it in my documentation at the gym That comes from the scale at the gym. Which, is 5 pounds heavier than my scale at home. I don't know why these scales show different weights; they're made by the same company and mine is relatively new. The one at the gym is a little bit nicer but that doesn't really account for the difference. It's been hard for me to make the switch that the one at the gym is probably my true weight. Because who wants to gain 5 lbs?!?! So, today I did it. From now on I'm going to use the scale at the gym as my true weight. It will just make things more consistent. My ticker at the bottom of this blog will reflect that.

Just in case you wanted to know. This week I lost 2 pounds.

WSTR

Every week I meet with my trainer on Wednesday and she gives me a new strength training routine to do three times in the following week. From now on WSTR = Weekly Strength Training Routine. Here is my strength training routine for this week:

Machine rear delt fly 40lb 3/15
Cable core twist 30lb 3/15 each side
Wide squats w/ 10 lb plate tap 3/20 10 each arm
DB chest press w/ legs up 15 lb 3/20
DB bent over row 15 lb 3/20

I'm sorry if this doesn't make any sense. I entered it into the notes on my iPhone when I'm done and this is how I copied it. This WSTR isn't as vigorous when it comes to legs because my cardio workout is.

Sugar addict update

It's been one week with no added sugar. I found myself unconsciously drinking more milk than I normally do because I was trying to feel the need that I normally fill with sugar. I'll be honest it was quite difficult. It required a lot of self-control. Especially when my husband brought home a 5 pound bag of chocolate bars from work and placed them in our freezer without my knowledge. I was probably more rude than I needed to be about it becausek I was going to sugar withdrawals. However, I was retained my white knuckle grip on my self-control and I haven't had any of it!!!

Here's some further evidence about how I know I'm a sugar addict. On Saturday night my husband and I went on a date and watched the new movie Trouble With the Curve. While we were there I constantly found myself thinking, where's my coke where's my candy. It's so hard to do things when you're used to doing something with that activity. At the end of the movie I mentioned this to my husband and he simply said to me, "That's because you're an addict, honey."

Anyhow, I survived. And it wasn't as hard as it probably could've been. But I did find myself sneaking sugar into my diet without me really thinking that it was sugar. For instance, I like to eat fruit at night as a substitute dessert. This affected my weight loss this week so I'm going to try to check my brain into thinking that sugar snap peas are a treat.

Machine loyalty

Is it just me or does anyone else develop machine royalty? You know, that feeling when you see someone else on a machine that you typically like to use. You get mildly frustrated and find it annoying. You find yourself looking over thinking hopefully they'll get off the machine. I have this one Precor elliptical machine that I like to use. It has a number 52 on it. There's nothing spectacular about it. It doesn't do any tricks. It hasn't helped me lose weight faster. Yet, for some reason I like that machine. I don't like to use the other ones. I'll use them if someone's on that one, but I'd really like to use that one. I just wondered if this is just me or if other people are like this.

My goal is six

Big surprise I got sick again at the end of last week. I'll be so glad when my tonsils are removed. However, today I woke up feeling good so I decided this week I am going to get my six days in at the gym even if it kills me.

My trainer has me on a new cardio routine. For the first 10 minutes I do Precor which is basically an elliptical. For the next 10 minutes I do the helix which is difficult by itself. However, for the last 10 minutes I have the joy of doing the stairmaster. I felt like I was going to die by the end of this routine, but I made it to my strength training. It was exhausting but I finished and I am glad that I got my first day of six in at the gym.

Further updates: I haven't had any soda or Cokes or whatever you want to call it for a week, since my lovely visit to my doctors office. Also, I haven't had any sweets in two days. We'll see how this goes I'm really trying to make some serious progress.

But I just got slapped yesterday!!!

I like to keep it real on this blog. So here it is. Here is how I got slapped in the face by karma. Back in the day, before I got fat, I would say I was nice looking. Not super gorgeous. But okay. However, like most girls I thought I was hideous. Anyway, there was this boy in high school who really liked me, I liked him enough, but not enough to be his girlfriend. I went to prom with him, but honestly, I was interested in his friend. Actually I started dating his friend and did so for a while. Eventually we broke up, and life moved on.

Until today. Here I am in my own local Walmart, with my four children in a huff because some cashier couldn't complete my transaction correctly. When I noticed a man standing a few registers over. He looks familiar I think to myself. In fact he looks like so-and-so, the boy who liked me way more than I liked him. Well let's just say time has been REALLY good to him. He's in great shape! He's more handsome! And here I am. All fat. With four kids. Who are cranky and loud. Because they're tired of being in Walmart. I know he knew it was me too. I could just tell. He kept looking over like I think I know her, do I know her? Yes. You know me. I know it's hard to tell through all this fat, but it's me the girl who thought she was too good for you.

Thank goodness I had at least worn make up.

So thanks a lot karma. Your timing is impeccable. I just got slapped yesterday. You could've waited a few days. Geez.

I JUST GOT SLAPPED IN THE FACE!!

Today was my annual well woman exam. I was excited to see my doctor, because I hadn't seen her in almost a year. Understand, I really like my OB/GYN. She is a great doctor! She delivered my last two children and I really appreciated how she treated me as a patient. Without her I don't know if another doctor would've allowed me to have a fourth child. I was very excited to see her!

I didn't realize the slap in the face I would receive when she walked in the room. You see when I was weighed I was feeling good about myself since I've lost almost 40 pounds since February. However, in walks my OB/GYN and she is super skinny!!! I sat there with my stunned expression and asked her how much weight she had lost. She responded she had lost almost 90 pounds. I felt so guilty sitting there with my Diet Coke that I had just purchased. I asked her what she done. Her answer was simple, "I gave up sweets."

She told me about how she had discovered she was addicted to sugar. I've had that same realization, but unlike her I really haven't dealt with the problem. She realizes she's addicted to sugar and she cannot have it at all. Ever. She explained her rationale to me. It's very simple and it really hit home with me. She said sometimes people ask her to have a bite of dessert and she has to say no. She said to me "you wouldn't give us just one cigarette to a former smoker because they're addicted to smoking." Well, she's addicted to sugar. It makes so much sense and it's so simple. If you're addicted to sugar, don't eat it at all!!

Needless, to say, as soon as she walked out of the room, I threw my Diet Coke in the trash!
